Clockface

Learning to tell the time can be a tricky challenge for children. Here are a few ways you can use your Clockface Whiteboard to introduce and develop telling-the-time skills.

Starting Out

Why not start by using only the hour hand? This might help your child to develop an understanding that is it still the same hour even when the hour hand is between two numbers.

Then, as confidence grows, try drawing the hour hand in and asking your child to redraw the hand one hour, then two hours later and then three hours later.

Introducing Minutes

Once you’ve mastered hours, you can begin to work on the minute hand, counting around the clock in 5s. You can draw the minutes on the outside of the clockface to help, and challenge your child to draw where the minute hand is at 15, 30 and 45
