Eastpoint Donates to Champion Chanzige

Empowering teachers and students for a brighter future.

Philippa Jacobs visited Tanzania for the first time back in 2013, and it proved to be a life-changing experience.

After working in UK primary schools for 12 years, Philippa was shocked by the lack of basic teaching resources and the terrible state of the classrooms she encountered.

Knowing that she had to help, what was initially supposed to be a 10-day trip spent volunteering inspired her to set up Champion Chanzige.

Inspired by the children’s desire to learn and their view of education as a privilege, Philippa and a dedicated group of volunteers have spent the past nine years regularly visiting the country to help communities provide the education and resources these children and their communities deserve.

Schools in Tanzania have large class sizes, often exceeding sixty pupils, basic resources are scarce, and often there is no electricity or drinking water.

Champion Chanzige provides resources, renovates buildings, and delivers a range of workshops that teach the pupils vital skills, whilst providing the schools with an additional income.

We are proud to have donated a range of resources to Phillipa and the team, ready to take with them on their visit to Tanzania next month (September).
